God help me, I know I broke my vow and am reading OotS again despite not having built up a sufficient backlog, but I've really been enjoying the past few comics.
I'm so ashamed of myself.

I should note that despite my grumping about his unprofessional update schedule in the other thread, I must still be following it and interested otherwise, ugh, I'd stop putting up with it.
Heck, if he actually updated on a regular schedule he'd have ended his story years ago before Kickstarter took off and be short his big payday.
I follow other webcomics with slooooow update schedules, but I console myself with that often times they have some sort of notice/routine instead of completely random, and their art style is much more demanding on the artist.

Speaking of DKR in the other thread... was anyone else reminded of this at the end?

Given the number of little references Christopher Nolan snuck in to fill the Joker-shaped void in his original vision, I think that might have been intentional.Prak_Anima wrote:Speaking of DKR in the other thread... was anyone else reminded of this at the end?

Was The Joker supposed to be in DKR? Any further info on that, I'd be interested.

Really. Because I still contend that if Heath Ledger had not died and they then had not promoted the crap out of that then the last piece of shit batman movie would have ended the current run of the franchise and you would already be watching the reboot.
Just saying.

You think people only liked Dark Knight... because Ledger died?
Perhaps file this under PhoneLobster is a hater, and consider accepting that a lot of people really, really enjoyed that movie- enough to make it a profitable consideration for creating a 3rd.
I still re-watch Dark Knight every now and then and that certainly has nothing to do with Ledger's lack of respiration.

Inception was also crap.
And they marketed THAT one on a heavy internet meme campaign that began before the movie came out.

edit: OK this was meant to be an edit and became a post. Suck on it.
Seriously. These things aren't achievements of movie making they are achievements of aggressive marketing.
Heath Ledger did OK (but not as well as fucking Jack Nicholson) in a movie with (marginally) better production values than the old crap a worse lead actor than even the worst of the worst old crap, (even) worse writing than well, ok just the better ones of the old crap and a endless pointless meandering mess of a second rate uninteresting plot that just plain went WAY TOO LONG.
People like it because it's the more recent bat man and bat man nerds will be RAGING bat man nerds. Fuck em. Bat man isn't even that great in his own right, and that movie was fucking abysmal. I stand with my minority of strong anti-batman backlash brothers on the internet and say "fuck you dark knight, fuck you for sucking so hard"
edit edit: and seriously did you people NOT notice the actual heavy media promotion of Heath Ledgers death? It was on the fucking (commercial) news. Constantly. Here. In Australia. All through to the lead up of the movie. Which was on the fucking news. In stories that tied the release of the "sure to be block buster movie" with "the tragic death" tied into the story.
IT WAS NOT FUCKING NEWS. But it was pushed hard very very hard. Someone somewhere made some shrewd marketing decisions and put a LOT of fucking real cash behind that. So if you want to pretend that didn't happen and you didn't fall for it, fuck you.

What you think of Inception doesn't make a difference to the actual conversation, PL. Because the success in actual real world dollars of Inception and Batman Begins and the Prestige and Memento and Following and Insomnia and the Dark Knight, which you might note is Christopher Nolan's entire filmography up until DKR, show that audiences in general really like Christopher Nolan and he does not need some actor's death to make his movies succeed.

You... actually believe the box office means shit to what is or is not a good movie?
Fuck you.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus was the better movie that Heath Ledger died making. Have you even heard of it? It wasn't that great but it WAS better than the stupid batman movie, the prior stupid batman movie, AND inception ALL COMBINED.
Sadly it did not have the marketting budget to leverage his death in the same way and also, you know, didn't have a comic book wank icon in it.
The City of Lost Children is arguably one of the best films I have ever seen? Have you even heard of it? Do you think it did particularly well at the international box office what with being a French film?
If you say "X was a good movie because lotsa rubes bought tickets after a massive media promotion campaign centering around a dead actor to get them into the fucking news with "career retrospectives" of a guy known for a fucking knights tale" Then seriously. Your opinion of what makes a good movie is so far from mine, or you know, anything of measurable value that it is worthless.
Edit: and Christopher Nolan's Filmography history up until when now? Like half of it is nothing but this shit batman franchise. Not everything in it is all THAT bad but seriously Memento is like the highlight and it's not exactly a great movie.
Fuck you.

Christopher Nolan movies that have had sequels. The Batman ones.
Chirstopher Nolan movies that were ALWAYS going to get sequels because they were Batman Franchise Movies (and had massive marketing campaigns). The Batman ones.
Other Christopher Nolan movies that are/have sequels? Fucking none of them.
Your diversion, and it is a diversion and a direct backpedaling on your direct and clear claim that ticket sales equals good movie, also fails on basic fucking principles.
Face the truth. Christopher Nolan is not a fucking genius just because you hold your dick in your hand whenever someones says "Look it's bat man!". He is a moderate to poor typical hollywood hack. And while his more recent movies like the more recent batman franchise and (yawn)Inception, are better than say... the recent Transformers franchise...
...but they rate as only just barely better than the more recent Transformers franchise. And hell. It's probably questionable in places.
Yes that's right. They are that bad and your over rating of them is that bad. Fuck it. If Optimus Prime was driven by Batman and killed Heath Ledger during shooting then you would probably think THAT was fucking genius too. (though... in all fairness optimus prime driven by batman running over and killing heath ledger is basically significantly MORE genius than any piece of shit Christopher Nolan has ever squeezed out so you might get some empathy from me on that one).

Did you or did you not just claim a guy who has only ever made 2 sequel movies, which were in both in the SAME big name comic book franchise he was basically contracted to do as a batch no less, would "consistently make sequels" even though, you know, thats all the sequels he has ever "consistently made".
You keep the fuck up. You dropped a whole one sentence of content. That content was "sequels mean films are good, and this guy makes many sequels!". He doesn't even make many sequels. And none outside of a trashy genre and franchise known largely for being bad and having sequels. Even if, you know, making sequels was EVER a sign of good quality in a movie. Which it isn't.
I know you are just being a trolling little shit but TRY HARDER.
